Doug is an independent drummer, instructor and clinician in Edmonton, Alberta. He started out drumming at age 11 in his elementary school concert band, and later joined the marching band. Doug played through high school in garage bands, and after graduation studied music theory, drums, percussion and art in college.
After graduating from college he worked in the music retail business, taught drums and played professionally. Doug has contributed to Modern Drummer magazine as an educator and product reviewer.
He is presently a freelance touring and recording drummer currently performing with The Dead City Dolls and Saints and Lovers, in addition to instructing over 40 students.
Doug is also an author of two drum instruction method books and is currently completing the third book focusing on advanced techniques, incorporating rudiments, limb independence, ostinatos, and polyrhythms.
